What's overall the best fish to fish for in the world.?

What's the strongest pulling, hardest fighting, most energetic, longest running, frikin' insane,funnest to catch, never gives upiest (made up word to all you whiners that explode over the slightest of bad grammar.),most exciting thing on earth to fish for. Please don't give the obvious answers (smallies, muskies, tuna, marlin, etc.) unless you really, truly believe it. also a reason for your vote. Please out of the goodness of your heart don't just choose the biggest fish, some fish are huge and don't fight at all. And please no jokes like nemo, minnows, or your mom. most detailed and well thought out answer wins the best answer.

I was fishing for bass from my float tube using a Texas-rigged six-inch Oxblood/red flake Roboworm plastic worm and eight-pound line. I'm cruising the shoreline in my tube, casting my worm out to the starboard side into deeper water and slowly bouncing it back at an angle. I don't feel any tapping, I don't feel a hit, I don't feel the bite at all. It was just a nice, hard jerk followed by a hell of a run. When I reared back and set the hook, I thought I had hooked THE bass, but after a couple seconds of the long run, I figured out what it was. Two-and-a-half hours later after being dragged around this particular arm of the lake, I finally tire out the fish and get it onto my tube. A carp. A huge f'n carp. Both it's head and tail hung six inches off each side of my tube. Forty-four-eight is what it weighed after I got it to a scale at the marina. I was using a five-and-half-foot Fenwick Fenglass Lunkerstick Two Thousand rod and an Ambassadeur Twenty-Five-Hundred reel.
