Unfortunately, technological items depreciate even faster than cars because there are so many new discoveries introduced into new products on a weekly basis, or so it seems.
Although I would love to upgrade from my older laptop, I couldn't pay more than $300 for a used one in great condition, even with a one year warranty.
Check the prices of used computers on eBay to see what they are going for. Another alternative is Craig's list http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html with local sites. This would cut back on the shipping charges which will up the price about $25.00 for packaging and UPS -- maybe more. That has to be factored in, along with your eBay fees to determine the true value you would get.
If you can sell locally to a private party, and include 4 hours setup time -- which would include show and tell, getting it on line, etc., then you might get more money.
