Sorry Aggravation
Knowing the right way to apologize is a crucial part of repairing a broken relationship. That being said, you shouldn't ever apologize to your ex girlfriend unless you've done something wrong. Only you know whether or not you have, so it's up to you to sort that out. Lying to yourself or blaming your ex for something that's not really her fault can cost you any chance of getting back together again.
No matter what you did, crafting the right apology involves certain things. You can find them listed below, and they will always help along the path to reconciliation:
First, Swallow Your Pride
You can't really apologize if you're not truly sorry for what you did. Some people are stubborn, others are bitter, and a good many others are just simply bad at admitting when they're wrong. But if you want you ex back, you need to swallow whatever pride you have and really apologize for wronging her. Trying to minimize the apology or downplay whatever it is that you did will undermine the entire purpose of saying you're sorry. Suck it up and do it right.
Explain Why You're Sorry... And Really Mean It
Men can be pretty good actors when they want to be, but women are usually good at seeing through them. Don't just say the words or go through the motions of an automatic apology... you need to really mean the things you say. Explain exactly what you think you did wrong, and why it wasn't right. Don't go so much into why you did it, but that you recognize that you shouldn't have done it. Whether it's lying or cheating or anything else, every single apology should be heartfelt and genuine. Your ex will know if you're really sorry, or whether you're just saying things she wants to hear.
Listen To What She Has To Say
Immediately after you apologize, your ex will begin talking. She'll probably reiterate how she felt when you did what you did, and how much pain or aggravation it caused her. Nod your head, and tell her you understand. Let her know you relate to how she feels, and that you never meant to put her through it. Don't interrupt her, or try to belittle her feelings. Allowing her to get it out will go a long way toward getting your ex back.
Assure Her It Won't Happen Again
No matter what you did, your ex girlfriend wants to know that it won't happen again. If you betrayed her trust, it will take some time to build it up again. She might not believe these words when you say them, but she wants to hear them nonetheless. Be sincere when you tell her that whatever you did was so wrong, you wouldn't ever dare repeat it. Part of her will really want to believe you.
Accept Your Punishment
Apologizing after your girlfriend breaks up with you can be tough, because she's going to immediately think you're just apologizing to try and get back together with her. For this reason, she may test you by continuing the break up. This means you'll apologize, and she'll accept the apology... but she'll also tell you she's not getting back together with you again. This is fine for now, and you must accept it. Don't fight her on the decision, and walk away knowing that you gave her one very sincere and genuine apology. Odds are good that it will be enough: over the next few days she'll think and then re-think about what you did, and eventually she'll forgive you. Making the correct apologies will always make a girl want to believe things can be different, and if there's love in her heart for you she's going to want you back.
